Outward Dialing, Line Access
How do I access a line to dial out?
There are several ways to access lines so you can make a call. They are listed in the order most often used. We assume you have picked up the handset or pressed SP-PHONE and can hear INTERCOM dial tone.
Press a CO Line Key (They usually are labeled as CO 1 or Line 1) You will hear a change in the pitch of the dial tone and can dial the number.
Dial 0, an available line will be accessed. You will hear a change in the pitch of the dial tone and can dial the number.
Dial 8, and the number of a CO line group. For example, dial 83 and you will access line 3 or 84 and you will access line 4. You will need to know how your lines are grouped to use this feature. The first 8 lines are by default, grouped as 1 in group 1, 2 in group 2 etc. up to group 8 (except for the KX-TA 624, which only supports 6 lines). Depending on your needs and set-up this may or may not have been changed. You will hear a change in the pitch of the dial tone and can dial the number.
Press the Loop Key. If you have a Loop Key programmed, it will automatically give you a line to call out on. You will hear a change in the pitch of the dial tone and can dial the number.
You have the option of setting your phone to grab an outside line when you pick up the handset or press the SP-PHONE key. See Preferred Line Assignment, Outgoing
